Do you really know about the maintenance and repair of construction hoists? Let’s find out together with me below!

  1. Under normal operating conditions, perform a major overhaul at regular intervals or after the completion of each construction phase. Replace worn bearings and other easily damaged parts. In addition, address any issues that arise promptly as they are discovered.

  2. If a construction hoist is left unused for an extended period, it should be inspected and tested according to the procedures applicable to newly installed or overhauled equipment before being put back into service. During transportation and storage, the hoist should be kept in a dry location, and all components should be adequately protected against moisture and corrosion.

  3. During operation, please continuously monitor and inspect the functionality and wear condition of the brakes, clutch, and brake actuators, and promptly address any malfunctions.

  4. During disassembly and assembly, pay attention to protecting surfaces from scratches and inspect friction surfaces for wear and other damage. If such issues affect the machine’s operation, technical solutions should be employed instead.

Next, let’s take a look at the common faults that can occur in construction hoists during operation and their corresponding troubleshooting methods:

  1. After the brake wears out, the clearance becomes too large, compromising the reliability of the brake. The clearance should be adjusted or the components replaced promptly.

  2. If the bearing overheats due to wear or inadequate lubrication, improve lubrication or replace components as appropriate.

  3. If the bearing vibrates due to loose bolts securing the bearing, tighten the bolts immediately.

  4. Due to overheating of the motor caused by overload or heating of the motor bearings, the motor needs to be stopped for cooling, lubricated on schedule, and its load reduced.

  5. Before inspecting electrical equipment, you must first turn off the power switch. Electrical appliances must be kept clean; therefore, they should be regularly cleaned to remove dust, dirt, grease, and other contaminants. Contacts that are oily, burnt, or oxidized must be carefully smoothed with fine sandpaper. Insulating rings must not be cleaned with gasoline. To prevent rust from forming on the contact surfaces of the armature’s iron core, apply machine lubricant periodically and then wipe it clean. The cast-iron plates of resistors should be routinely checked for cracks.

The above is a summary of the maintenance and repair guidelines for construction hoists. We hope this information will be helpful to everyone.
